We test on real samples early and often.

BC Tech has a dedicated wet-lab and the specialists needed to quickly and inexpensively demonstrate feasibility and validate designs on models, animal tissue and cadaver tissues. These "real world trials" give early feedback and result in higher quality, lower risk, reduced liability exposure and better regulatory submissions for your product.

A scenario - we're tasked to build an implant that is inserted in the spine with a minimally invasive procedure.

During an initial Risk Analysis experiment, an engineer discovers a hazard not outlined in the client's research. The delivery drill could come uncomfortably close to a nerve if used on the C3 vertebrae. We notify the client and agree to explore the potential risk immediately.

Our technicians prototype a delivery drill and implant that afternoon. Cadaverous tissue is on hand in anticipation of verification testing. We design an experiment and prepare the samples for surgery.

The next morning, our staff conducts procedures on the cadaverous spines and attached soft tissues with the prototype device and implant. We simulate worst-case surgical practices and carefully record and document the results. An engineer is able to sever a nerve on one of the samples. The risk is confirmed.

We hold a video-conference with the client. The client reviews our footage as we explain the experiment and results. BC Tech engineers present several potential solutions - a brainstorming session results in commitment to one. The scope of the project is refined and documented and feasibility is re-established.

Complex projects often present sudden challenges

Our rapid prototyping capability paired with our dedicated wet-lab ensures these challenges become opportunities for better, safer and more successful designs.
