History and Philosophy
It started in a small garage in the farm country of Santa Cruz, California.
After fifteen years working as a Director of Mechanical Engineering for Surgical Dynamics, Ben Clawson was ready for a change. With experience founding a company and leading complex projects, it was time to start a specialized medical device design consultancy of his own.
Ben started with a drafting table, an old milling machine and an Apple II. Despite the rudimentary tools, Ben's commitment to excellence earned him a solid reputation in the medical start-up industry.
Ben hired his first employee in 1994. Just a few months later, the 600 sq. ft. garage behind his house was overflowing with new equipment and technicians.
BC Tech was officially formed when Teetle Clawson joined the enterprise as CFO in 1995 and incorporated the company. She transitioned the growing business into a new building and took over the financial affairs while Ben continued to lead the engineering teams.
Now BC Tech has more than 65 employees in a state-of-the-art design and manufacturing facility. Despite BC Tech's tremendous growth and achievement, Ben and Teetle still believe that success is not measured in dollars, but in a company's impact on the community and global-quality-of-life.
That's why every single employee at BC Tech receives a living wage, full-family benefits and buy-in opportunities. And that's why BC Tech treats every client like a partner.
We're proud that our success is founded on principles of hard work, honesty and fairness.
