MammoMark

Enabling doctors to locate biopsy sites with pinpoint accuracy

When a biopsy sample is extracted to test for breast cancer, it's important the site is marked should a doctor need to return for treatment. Artemis developed an innovative solution to this problem - an implantable collagen and titanium marker for accurate site identification by x-ray.

Artemis selected BC Tech to develop the handheld device for accurately implanting their proprietary marker. The device had to be easy-to-use, unique in appearance, precise in orientation of deployment, and fully compatible with an existing biopsy tool.

Extensive human factors research and collaboration with health care professionals produced a product that not only achieves Artemis' business goals, but studies show is the most accurate and effective biopsy marking system to date.

EnSeal

Managing blood loss is a constant struggle during surgery

Surgeons choose from a variety of tools and techniques when cauterizing tissue to prevent bleeding during surgical procedures. Unfortunately, most options are either imprecise, hard-to-control, or both. A slight slip or miscalculation can result in damage to sensitive tissues.

SurgRx™ has developed an impressive new system for the precise and safe sealing of veins and arteries. A proprietary clamping electrode tip utilizes millions of temperature sensitive, nano-scale conductive particles to deliver perfect closures every time. The system requires zero configuration - simply squeeze the trigger and wait for the chime to signal completion.

SurgRx™ chose BC Tech for pilot production and manufacturing services.

BC Tech assisted in refining the Enseal's mechanical design, developed manufacturing process instructions and quality control procedures, and produced hundreds of units for clinical trials and market use. The Enseal™ is now used in hospitals around the world.

Excisor Biotome & Disposables

Early detection dramatically increases the odds of surviving breast cancer.

Acueity has developed a suite of instruments for effectively identifying and treating breast cancer before it can be detected by traditional screening methods like mammography.

Most breast cancers originate in milk-producing ducts. Acueity's micro-endoscopy system enters the breast through the nipple and helps the health care provider identify pre-invasive cancerous or pre-cancerous lesions in the duct tissue.

Acueity selected BC Tech to develop and manufacture the multiple disposable sets and the Excisor Biotome - a multiple action, minimally invasive biopsy device for use with their endoscopy system.

From concept through manufacture:

  • We designed and manufactured simple and effective disposable components.
  • Developed an easy-to-use, ergonomic biopsy device.
  • Helped Acueity prepare documentation for FDA approval.

The Acueity system is used by Doctors across the United States to diagnose and treat breast cancer in high-risk patients.
