A premier national laboratory partnered with BC Tech to develop a sensitive, reliable and easy-to-use explosive detection system.
The Explosives Detection Kit gives law enforcement and military personnel a disposable system for detecting more than 30 explosive compounds. The kit is extremely portable and easy-to-use. Simply remove the test strip, wipe a surface (clothing, door handles, luggage, etc.) and reinsert the strip in the system. Then snap two ampoules to flood the sample with chemical reagents. The card will change color if traces of explosive are present.
BC Tech helped turn this cutting edge technology into an inexpensive disposable system. Our Industrial Design department worked closely with scientists and manufacturing experts to achieve the client's goals for sensitivity, size, ease-of-use and cost-to-manufacture.
Our pilot production program proved effectiveness and helped demonstrate market need. The product was successfully licensed and is currently used by law enforcement and military personnel around the world.

Osteoarthritis of the knee is a common and debilitating condition that affects millions of Americans. In 2006, ConforMIS introduced the iPD - a revolutionary new minimally invasive implant treatment that can reduce pain and restore mobility without compromising joint integrity.
ConforMIS selected BC Tech as their on-demand manufacturing partner. ConforMIS uses a series of MRIs to design a custom implant that matches the exact articular surfaces of the patient's joint. The specifications are passed to BC Tech, and in approximately 10 days, the implant is manufactured and returned to ConforMIS for sterilization and delivery to the health care provider.
